What?
- Saline - sterile solution of 0.9% sodium chloride (salt) in water
- Infusion - as apposed to injection, infusion is the administration of larger volumes of fluids over longer periods of time. Injections are typically much smaller volumes, much more quickly (think vaccinations)
- Breast - one of two prominences located on the upper ventral region of a primate's torso, see also tits, titties, fun bags, sweater puppies, etc.
- Expansion - in our case temporary expansion. To make the breast appear temporarily larger
Why?
- Medical Fetish
- Giver: Play “doctor”
- Receiver: Receive “medical treatment”
- Body Modification
- Giver: A chance to temporarily alter someone’s physical appearance, in many instances drastically
- Receiver: Same, to be altered temporarily, sometimes drastically
- Gender Affirmation/Exploration
- Giver: To facilitate the healing and/or growth that occurs through the affirmation or exploration
- Receiver: To have the opportunity to reclaim a part of themselves that they had lost touch with, or to connect with a part of themselves they are only now becoming familiar with
- S&M
- Giver: It’s uncomfortable at best, and painful at worst - and you are doing it to them
- Receiver: It’s uncomfortable at best, and painful at worst - and you are receiving it
Safety/Anatomy
- Typical safety precautions for other forms of play piercing apply, in addition…
- Purposely introducing something foreign subcutaneously with the intention of leaving it there and making the body deal with it.
Anatomical considerations
- Implants - most modern implants are placed underneath the pectoral muscle, far deeper within the chest than were our needle will reach. However, introduction of saline via infusion does create tightness in the chest which could theoretically put subpectoral implants under additional pressure. This represents an un-quantifiable risk in my estimation.
- Other types of reconstructive surgery - it’s unknowable what kind of impact doing this kind of play could have on someone who has had a mastectomy or some form of reconstructive surgery to the breast. Again this represents an un-quantifiable risk in my estimation.
- Current or Future Lactation - there is a non-zero chance that saline infusion could have an adverse impact on some of the glands, ducts, and tissue that facilitate lactation. Again the risk is un-quantifiable, but it is known from the medical literature that it is possible for a woman to nourish a baby without a 100% functional lactation system.
